The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), is the apex body of 21 trade unions working at various levels of the Malayalam film industry.The total of 8,284 members are spread across 21 unions of directors, technicians, editors, art directors, cinematographers, musicians, mess workers, drivers and others working in every department associated with a film set.FEFKA has played a pivotal role in the growth & development of Malayalam film industry.
FEFKA was established on April 25, 1993, in Kochi, Kerala, India. It was founded with the aim of bringing together and representing the diverse talents and workers in the film industry of Kerala. The federation was formed to unite and protect the rights and interests of film technicians and workers.Founding members included directors Priyadarshan,Sibi Malayil, K. G. George, and Bhadran, among others.
FEFKA operates with a well-defined structure consisting of various departments and councils, each focusing on different aspects of filmmaking and the industry. These include councils for directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, editors, art directors, and more. The federation works collaboratively with these departments to address industry issues effectively.As of the present day, FEFKA continues to be a strong and influential body in the Malayalam film industry.
